A man escaped a "salvage" attempt late Wednesday night when he pretended to be dead after his body was dumped and shot on a bridge in Alfonso, Cavite, police said Saturday.
Chief Insp. Christopher F. Olazo, Alfonso town police chief, identified the victim as Hubert B. Gamboa, 35, of Barangay 2, Indang, Cavite.
The victim, who suffered two bullet wounds in the abdomen, is now confined at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) in Manila.
Initial investigation showed that Gamboa was abducted by three car-riding men near his house in Indang, Cavite, Wednesday night.
The salvage attempt took place at Bolbok Bridge in Barangay Esperanza Ibaba on the same night.
PO2 Lamberto Legaspi, case investigator, said Gamboa identified two of the three abductors as Jasper and Ben.
The three abductors wore police pants and upper civilian clothes, according to Gamboa.
Gamboa claimed said Ben and an unidentified companion held and forced him to ride a car driven by Jasper near his house.
The victim claimed that the two suspects strangled him with a cord as Jarper drove the car in an alley leading to the bridge.
